You Might think that this is Valencia Cathedral ...well it's a cathedral of sorts (but it's a cathedral of commerce). It is, in fact, one of the most spectacular indoor market halls I have even seen! The interior is no less awe-inspiring (below).
The sunlight shafts in through the staggeringly high vault of the ceiling. I have never seen so many stained glass windows outside of a church and the hubbub of commerce is almost intoxicating. Note the great dome in the middle of the hall's ceiling ...and marvel
This next picture (right) isn't the cathedral either ...it's just one of Valencia's churches that I wandered into. No flash photography here ...I had the camera steadied on the top of a pew and the squeezed as much as I could out of the darkened photo later on (Paint Shop Pro 7). It's worth finding the cathedral because you can also take a tour bus from there that takes you around many of the city's sights (email Valencia's tourist information office and ask them to post you map of the city) ...go prepared.
Come lunchtime (1.30 onwards in Spain), seek out the back-street cobbled plazas with there more modest eateries. You'll pay a lot less for your meal!
