It was inevitable that I would feel drawn to photograph the exterior of the battlements ...it's just unfortunate that my digital camera is so old that panoramas have to be made by 'stitching' together a series of shots (doesn't always come off and I should use a tripod!
You can get some idea how the battlements dominate the southern end of Tossa de Mar from the above shot!
If you decide to dine inside the old town walls, then make sure to take your credit card and just sign the bill at the end of your meal (without checking the amount)!
If, like me, you don't like credit card bills that come as a nasty shock ...then read on!
Just outside the walls is a street (above) resplendent with eateries that have a dedication to separating you from your money in a way that is easy to spot (if you're a seasoned hack like me). For a meal at better prices, wander into the side streets away from the seafront and the castle. This web site also has a guide to eating out on a budget and a not-to-be-missed guide to tapas.
The side streets are also home to a "Locutoria" ...a budget way to phone home (costs less than using a street kiosk, quieter and has more privacy.
Unfortunately, I have yet to find anywhere that allows you to plug your own laptop into a phone socket and collect your own email! So-called "cyber cafés" are unaccountably hostile to such an idea!
If the doors are open, then do take a look around this church: the Esglesia Parroquial de Sant Vincenç (loosely traslates from the Catalan as "Saint Vincent's local church." I did try to get some snaps inside the place ...but Spanish churches are unaccountably dark places and I had left my portable searchlight in the car. A lot of tweaking with photo software allowed me to bring you these:
