You don't have to be an historian to be able to walk around Sitges and sense the presence of history.

There's a street market in the old town every Thursday and it occupies the square behind the big church at the northern end of the promenade (a bit of a climb from the seafront).

The narrow streets of the old town are charming and well worth walking around. The town has a "Locutorio" (a place where you can make public phone calls home  a lot cheaper than using your mobile phone or feeding coins into a phone on the street). In my humble opinion, you have to go as far north as Tossa de Mar  before you will find a costal resort that holds a candle to Sitges!
