MENU

In a word, excellent! The sort of dishes one rarely sees outside of Madrid and not at Madrid prices! I dined on ostrich steak in a port and mushroom sauce. My wife had duck with sweet and sour caramelised onions and a raspberry sauce. My wife had a chocolate soufflé as a sweet and rolled her eyes approvingly! The meal (with salad, bread, mayonnaise, a litre jug of beer, lemonade and a coffee came to a very agreeable 49€! The menú del día was 11€ and looked quite tasty. The menu has a very flowery typeface that doesn't help one to read it.

LANGUAGE

Spanish! The waiter did try to speak to me in English and I found myself wondering why he bothered. The menu had no translation. A bit of a bravery test for people who speak no Spanish at all. Some words on the menu were in the local dialect. Whatever you do, don't forget the phrase book!

My advice would be to select a dish where you can understand the important part (what kind of meat or fish etc) and just go for it! You'll probably love it.

COMMENTS

I usually dine out at lunchtimes, which is why most of my restaurant photos show empty tables and chairs. As a self-confessed "Foodie" I know that this place doesn't need to advertise ...when it's that good, word gets around.

This is credit card dining for a family of six (most of a very stiff scotch before you open your bill after the holiday).

We were the only people dining from the main menu and so (oddly) rated a linen tablecloth (everyone else had paper). There was a nice courtesy detail of a decanter of chilled Mistella and two glasses, with the bill!

Service is a little slow and some extravagant soul has bought those very large plates that are currently fashionable and they don't really fit on the outside dining tables!
