These are probably not the best photographs I have ever taken. As you may have noticed, they were taken through the windows of a moving car!
The pictures record an activity I could scarcely believe when I first saw it.
It's okay, you're not imagining it! These guys are really getting teams of horses to drag large tyres along the road!
I just had to know why they were doing it! Was this, for instance, a cheap way of cleaning the road?
The answer is a surprising one. There are events, in Spain, where teams of horses compete with each other not by jumping over a series of fences, or racing hell-for-leather down a track. Pulling power is the name of the game and the horses you see here are in training!
