Views of La Drova

The road from Gandía to Barx follows the course of a stream as it winds its way through the only opening that will take you to our high valley. This view (right), although stunningly beautiful, gives you no clue about your first view of La Drova.

Below are pictures of the Avinguda Liuis Pericot and, no matter how many times I see this tree-limed view, I never seem to tire of it. Apart from the occasional passing car, all I could hear was birdsong and the buzzing of insects whilst I was taking these photos

La Drova and the smaller (older) nearby village of Barx nestle in between the twin mountain ranges of Mondúver and Buixcarro. These peaks give the area spring water you can drink and verdant countryside that is the foreground for the spectacular mountain views that form a beautiful backdrop everywhere you look. La Drova ("The Drive") gets its name from being the lowest point that sheep or cattle could be driven through the area. La Drova dates back to about 1310 AD when the first settlement was used for convalescing monks from the monastery at Simat de Valldigna.
