I have almost lost count of the number of people that I have known who have decided to supplement their income by odd-jobbing. There are probably more pitfalls than advantages ...but I'm not going to go into that.
Here, on this very page, is a little help with the publicity that you are going to need to get started ...probably the best source of FREE black & white DIY graphics on the Internet. You'll need these to make mini-posters.
Why black & white? Colour costs more money to reproduce ...black & white photocopies are cheaper!
Why mini-posters (A5)? You get more from a print run, they fit in really small spaces
Why use tear-off strips? Because they are a good idea. Not many people walk around with a pen and paper to jot down the odd phone number
Windows Metafiles (WMF). File size 6.6 Mb (zip file)
In the right hands, this is the most useful file format. Fully scaleable and no square outline to interfere with text or other graphics. Not a format used by every graphics design package ...but you can usually get around that by pasting in.
An old bitmap format with a small file size. Gradually falling out of favour with graphics programmes ...but still useful.
JPEG Files (JPG). File Size 10.2 Mb (zip file)
First produced by the Joint Photographic Experts Groupas a medium for filing photographs. Despite being developed for photos, this format is now used for just about everything and is now the universal standard graphics format. A living testament to the fact that most people don't care how much hard drive they are using!
If you have any questions regarding graphics design programmes, poster design or any complaints or smart-aleck remarks about the content of this web page then I would be grateful if you would bother somebody else. I won't reply to you and if you decide to make a pest of yourself then I'll delete your mail automatically. If you don't have a copy of WinZip to unpack the downloaded file(s) then use Google to find an evaluation copy of the programme (easy to find).
