Not everything on sale belonged to realms made popular by Tolkien's imagination ...this stall full of pastries (left) is proof!
There were several stalls selling sweets of various kinds and I have little doubt these were tasty. Beware imitations on ordinary street market stalls ...cheaper confections (confectionary baking included) are made more to delight the eye than the taste buds. My advice would be to sample first ...most stallholders will allow this and any good phrase book will tell you how to ask.
The stall that caught my interest was one selling beer and signs claiming that the owners were craftsmen in the art. The beer didn't travel well and the stallholders were doing little more than filling glasses with froth to start off with. I came back some time later and discovered that the delivery rate had improved ...but, at a shocking 2€ per glass, I resolved not to bother again!
The stall pictured left sold products made of chocolate. By contrast, the stall to the right sold cold meats.
Despite appearances this stall (left) was selling insence and pot pouri air fresheners (including some made for your car. If you thought you simply could not go home without purchasing an outlandish straw hat, then they even had a stall (right) for you ...it was early in the day and nobody was drunk enough to buy one!
