Off away in another group of mountains this little town offers a leap back into history with its steep cobbled streets. The area also has an extensive cave system ...some of which was either lived in by prehistoric man or used for burial purposes--archaeologists appear to be divided about that one. Unless you have an avid interest in archaeology, don't bother with the local museum as it really is boring and uninformative.

Quite the reverse is true of the local church (Virgin of the Assumption). It is perched atop the town. Its position in the town is typical of so many Spanish towns but the attention lavished on its interior is worth getting a chance to see. In case you don't ever go I have grabbed a few shots  (below).

In the meantime, the video clip below shows a feature of Bocairent's "Christians & Moors Festival that might just be unique. None of the antique guns being used appeared to be fake!
